Hard hat - check, torch - check, gloves - check, boots - check, relationship healthy - errrr.... Miners intent on spending long periods working away from home are encouraged to prepare their relationships for the change of lifestyle.

Some shift workers currently spend up to 14 days away on a mine site, often countered by then spending the same amount of time at home. With lifestyle and home routines so severely disrupted how do you keep things going good when you're only there half the time?

During a private "fly-in" fishing excursion in the Alaskan wilderness, the charter pilot and fishermen left a cooler and bait in the plane. And a bear smelled it.  This is what he did to the plane.

The pilot used his radio and had another pilot bring him 2 new tires, 3 cases of duct tape, and a supply of sheet plastic. 
He patched the plane together, and FLEW IT HOME ! Duct Tape – Never Leave Home Without It!

Minesite Acronyms are important to know, here is an example:

You are told at the PSI to stop work on the SAG mill and CIP tank jobs because the Jaques has broken. Do a JSA or THA for the new WO and take LV 4 to the ROM because you will need to TAG on at MCC 3. Don't foget your PPE and FLRA because CI and OHS are doing TOP 's today. The Hot Work and Confined Space are being organised. OK
